Erzurum'un yerel gazetelerinden Palandöken Gazetesi'nde köşe yazısı yazan ENER Başkanı Vahdet Nafiz Aksu, bugünkü köşesinde ingilizce yazarak dünya gençlerine ingilizce seslendi.

Palandöken Gazetesi'ndeki köşesinden dünya gençlerine ingilizce seslenen ENER Başkanı Aksu'nun yazısı şöyle:

"WELCOME THE WORLD'S YOUNG PEOPLE, BE A PART OF ERZURUM"

Erzurum is a city having witnessed important events and hosted many activities throughout the history. As an outpost on the frontier of a big empire, it was subject to invasion many times.

During the sport events, you will see a historical bastion just below the ski-jumping towers on which sporting stunts will be performed. Bastions decorate the historical buildings and surrounding hills crown the monuments about heroic deeds.

Guides probably take you around. At the historical building in the heart of the city where the historic Erzurum Congress was held and the foundations of our young Republic was laid.

You get excited, don't you?

You are right! It is a big chance for young people at your age to see a city where a foundations of a big country was formed.

There are two big madrasahs worth seeing by young university students. One of them is "Double Minarett Madrasah" and the other is "Yakutiye Madrasah".

That is to say, scientific root of Atatürk Univeristy dates back to centuries ago.

Young PEOPLE! You are in an important city.

Erzurum is very happy and proud to welcome you. You are the guest of a city which has magnificent historical heritage, culture, folklore and cuisine as Grand Palandöken Mountain has. You are breathing the air of an open museum.

There is not just "ski-run, ski, snow" There is also history, culture and folklore. You are not competing in a local city, you are the guest of a global city.

The people of Erzurum are very proud of hosting you. We wish you enjoy and have fun here.

"DÜNYA GENÇLERİ, HOŞ GELDİNİZ"

Erzurum, tarih boyunca önemli olaylara tanıklık etmiş, önemli etkinliklere sahne olmuş bir kenttir. Büyük bir imparatorluğun sınır kentiyken, defalarca işgale uğramıştır.

Yarışmalarda üzerinde zevkle sportif gösteriler yapacağınız atlama kulelerinin hemen yanında, tarihi bir tabya göreceksiniz. İşte o tarihi yapı ve çevre tepeleri birer tarih mücevheri gibi süsleyen tabyalar şehrin kahramanlık abideleridir.

Belki rehberler sizleri gezdirecektir. Kent merkezinde Erzurum Kongresi'nin yapıldığı tarihi mekanda, genç Cumhuriyetimizin temelleri atıldı, oradaki kararlarla yeni bir devlet doğdu.

Heyecanlandınız değil mi?

Haklısınız, sizin yaşınızdaki bir genç için, büyük bir devletin temellerinin atıldığı bir kenti görmek büyük bir şans.

Sizler gibi genç üniversitelilerin asırlar önce öğrenim gördüğü iki büyük medrese var bu kentte: Bunlardan biri "Çifte Minareli Medrese", diğeri "Yakutiye Medresesi"dir.

Yani, ATATÜRK ÜNİVERSİTESİ'nin bilimsel kökleri yüzyıllar öncesinden besleniyor.

Gençler, önemli bir kenttesiniz.
